Emberfall Oath

Emberfall Oath is the rare mobile RPG that trusts you to read. The story about a fractured mountain kingdom takes its time, and the writing is good enough that I actually cared which companion I brought into the harder fights.

Combat is turn-based and grid-free, leaning on positioning and cooldown timing rather than raw stats. You can autoplay easy encounters, but the boss fights demand real attention. I ended up rebuilding my whole party twice before one late-game duel finally clicked.

Progression is generous without being mindless. You unlock skills through use, so the characters you actually play get stronger in ways that feel earned.
